Shelby Cobra: American Racing Legend

Legendary Shelby Cobra in classic blue with white stripes
Carroll Shelby's vision of combining British chassis engineering with American V8 power created one of the most feared racing cars of the 1960s. The AC Cobra took the lightweight British AC Ace chassis and dropped in Ford's massive 289 and later 427 cubic inch V8 engines. The result was a car with an incredible power-to-weight ratio that dominated both road and track. The Cobra's success in racing helped establish Ford's performance credentials and created an American legend. Today, original Cobras are among the most valuable American cars ever made, with 427 models commanding over $1 million at auction.
