Track Test: Ferrari 288 GTO vs Lamborghini Countach
Two 1980s supercars, two completely different philosophies. The Lamborghini Countach attacks your senses with dramatic wedge styling and a naturally aspirated V12 that screams to 8,000 rpm. Visibility is terrible, the clutch is heavy, and the gated manual transmission requires commitment. But when the V12 hits its stride above 4,000 rpm, the Countach becomes transcendent. The Ferrari Testarossa takes a more refined approach. Its flat-12 engine produces more torque lower in the rev range, making it easier to drive quickly. The Testarossa's wider track and lower center of gravity provide more stable handling, while its superior ergonomics make it more livable daily. Verdict: Countach for drama and presence (8/10), Testarossa for overall excellence (9/10).
